HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

A very happy new year to everyone, and thank you so much for the Christmas and New Year best wishes comments posted.

Unfortunately I succumbed to a 2nd round of the lurgy so have been away from blogland for a while. I would love to catch up on all the postings over the past few weeks, but I think that would just take me too long so New Year new start with the reading of the posts.

No pictures today I'm afraid, hopefully normal service will resume shortly.

The boys enjoyed their Christmas, No 1 now has a car so is really feeling the benefits of passing his test, although at the moment he seems to have a permanent passenger in No 2! No 2 has been continuing with his rugby training over the Christmas break, his team have their first County Cup game on Sunday and it is against one of the best teams in the county.....no pressure there then! He moved teams after 8 years earlier in the season, and one of the biggest smiles he gave when opening his presents was when he opened a pair of his new club socks .....! Even OH has been on leave all over Christmas, a very rare event, so we have all had a relaxing time.

Whilst I've been 'relaxing' over the christmas break I've had time to think about what I would like to achieve this year....well it is that time of year isn't it? and I've come up with my list of goals below...hopefully over the next 12 months I will manage them.

Here goes...as they say In No Particular Order!

Grow more of our own vegetables in my little veggie patch

Lose 4 st

Make more pickles and preserves this year (I started with a few last year and they all went down very well, so I want to increase the repertoire. Hampers seem like a good option for some xmas presents next year)

Get over my fear of flying

Improve my fitness so that I can accompany No 2 on his runs (a 5 1/2 mile block around country lanes so quite a task)

Improve my overall health (I've succumbed to a bout of the flu with complications, and several of the niggly bugs that have gone around this year..and to be honest I am getting rather bored of feeling under the weather)

Complete two more of the diplomas that are on my list.

Decorate the kitchen and utility rooms - (I have the paint and the material to make the curtains, but have just not got into the mindset yet to start)

Buy locally as much as possible

Make as many of the birthday and Christmas presents that I can.

I wonder how many I will be able to tick off by the end of the year........I must admit to always being quite excited by the start of a new year, so many things to plan for and look forward to....oh by the way it is the Lions Tour this year (rugby) so can't wait for that!

I hope everyone has a Happy and Healthy 2009, where you achieve every thing you plan to.

Love that you don't have to be taxi driver Mum anymore now number one is driving...and driving his brother around too. Best wishes for 2009 to both you and your family.

So sorry to hear you were lurgified again :-( Such a pain. My two have colds AGAIN, so I just hope it doesn't come my way.

Love your resolutions - I think there are some there that I would share if I'd made some. Which I haven't!

Happy New Year to you and yours Kim.

May 2009 be a good one for you.

And I think that to kick start it all - you need to get rid of the dreaded lurgy. Mind you, it needs to warm up a little in your neck of the woods.

I love your idea of wrapping gifts in brown paper and then putting nice ribbons on, I bet they looked gorgeous! The website is good, and her pictures do the ribbons far more justice than mine does!

Happy New Year!! Some of your resolutions are the same as mine. I did hampers a few years ago and the family were so pleased with them that there were tears of joy!! So I'm determined to do it again - lets just keep fingers crossed for perfect growing and harvesting weather. I'm also doing the making gifts thing as I didn't do as well as I wanted to do this year. So I am list-tastic now and regular reminders have been set up in my electronic calender just to make sure!!
Happy New Year to you and yours too!

Hi,
Love the blog, and wanted to tell you. Hope you feel better, the cold and bugs seem to have been around for ages. I'm sure we have sunshine, and good things to look forward to soon.
Like the idea of having a list of "to do"s" for the year, I think it's one good way of not forgetting! It has given me an idea for another post!!
I'm new to blogging, and it would be lovely to hear from you.

Take care x
